NIMHANS Tunnel Underpass, Bangalore, India
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, NIMHANS, a premier institute for Mental Health in India looked to the Indian Institute of Science, IISC the world-renowned technical institute to find a solution to connect the two parts of its campus divided by a busy highway. The result was a unique structure.
Since it was not possible to disrupt the heavy flow of traffic, the underpass was created by jacking a pre-cast box section through a progressively burrowed tunnel below the road.
Under the technical coordination & supervision of SYConE, this unique structure was completed on time without any disruption to the traffic as well as the functions of the institute.
